NO REFUNDS OR RAIN CHECKS of membership or
gate fees for any reason. Exception to this can be
found on page 4, C Safety, #3.
2.
Upon entering any MMS participating race
facility/track, all riders, mechanics and spectators
must sign a release of liability waiver. MMS and or
its participating tracks do not assume any liability
should anyone suffer personal injury or loss while
at a race facility be it during a racing event or
any other time. Anyone refusing to sign the release
will not be allowed to enter the facility. Anyone
found at any facility/track that hasn’t signed the
waiver of liability will be charged with
trespassing.
3.
Wristbands must be worn on the wrist upon entry of
the track, this will be strictly enforced. 1st
offence will be a double entry fee and your name
will be logged in the offence log kept by the MMS.
2nd offence will be a double entry fee
and disqualification of the rider for the day.
4.
In order to race, each rider and mechanic must sign
a separate release of liability form. In addition,
a parent or legal guardian must sign a waiver of
liability if the rider is under 18 years old. The
parent or legal guardian must remain present
at all times during participation.
5.
The rules and or regulations set forth herein
are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of
racing events and to establish minimum acceptable
requirements for such events. These rules shall
govern the condition of all events, and by
participating in these events, all participants are
deemed to have agreed to comply with these rules.
6.
No expressed or implied warranty of safety
shall result from publications of or compliance with
these rules and/or regulations.
7.
The rules are intended as a guide for the
conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee
against injury or death to a participant, spectator
or official. Or anyone else on or around the track
area.
8.
The MMS Referee or promoting referee is
empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the
specifications herein or impose any further
restrictions that in his or her opinion do not alter
the minimum acceptable requirement.
9.
No exclusion of events or activities shall be
made upon the basis of race, color, creed, sex or
national origin. All participants in MMS
activities shall compete under the same rules and
the appropriate classes as determined in this
rulebook.
10.
General admission for riders, mechanics,
spectators etc. shall be at the discretion of MMS.
11.
All events are run rain or shine, except
where conditions warrant otherwise.
12.
If a race is cancelled or postponed we will
attempt to make the announcement by noon the day
before the race on www.MaineMotocrossSeries.org on
the home page and at 346-6200. It is the rider’s
responsibility to check the web sites or MMS
answering machine to make sure there has been no
cancellation or schedule changes before heading to
the track.
13.
All overnight parking will automatically have
an 11pm curfew. Curfew shall mean no excessive
noise or disturbance after 11pm or before 5 a.m.; no
running of external generators after 11pm (internal
generator may run thru the night) and all minors
must be at their own campsite after 11pm.
14.
No fire works or open fires are permitted at
any MMS event. Campfires must be off the ground in
a receptacle designed for campfires.
15.
No bicycles
are allowed at any MMS event, please leave them
home.
16.
All pets are the responsibility of their
keepers or owner. All pets must be restrained at
all times on a leash no longer than 10 feet so as
not to endanger the general public, mechanics, or
riders. Any pets not properly controlled or
creating problems shall be restricted from further
MMS events. At no time including the day before an
event, are pets allowed out on the track or track
areas, with or without a leash. Animals must be
taken to outer limits or in wooded area adjoining
racetrack to be relieved. Proper vaccination papers
are required if you bring a dog to any state other
than the one in which you live. Penalty: rider
disqualified and their animal/s banned indefinitely
from any MMS event.
17.
Profanity, unsportsmanlike or disrespectful actions
on or off the track by riders, members of his or her
family or pit crew towards other riders, mechanics,
family members, pit crew, spectators, event
officials, and or MMS officials shall be subject to
disqualification and or suspension by MMS.
Physically attacking a MMS or track official by any
rider or a member of his or her family or pit crew
will result in an immediate disqualification and or
indefinite suspension.
18.
Riders are responsible for all actions
of their dirt bike, mechanic, and pit crew and or
family at all times.
19.
MMS and or designated officials are empowered
to make and enforce regulations necessary to cover
special, unusual conditions, and or emergencies.
20.
Any changes made by the MMS in rules,
regulations, schedules, etc. will be communicated by
posting on
www.MaineMotocrossSeries.org and the
newsletter at the race,
therefore it is very important to check the
web site frequently and read each newsletter in its
entirety before each race.
21.
Misrepresentation of age, name, rider
classification and or any other information to the
MMS and or any of its officials will result in a
one-year suspension for all involved and may be
subject to further penalties allowable by law.
22.
Any rider competing during their
disqualification or suspension periods shall be
suspended for one additional year.
23.
Communication devices shall not be used by
the rider or pit crew to communicate directly with
any competing rider, track worker, official or
ambulance crewmember unless authorized by the head
referee. Pit boards or hand signals are allowed in
the Mechanic’s Area Only.
24.
Parents, legal guardians or authorized adults
of each rider shall have the responsibility of
participating in flagging, scoring, checking or
other duties as assigned during the racing season if
needed. A log will be kept and no one will be asked
to volunteer more than once during a racing season.
25.
Parking is limited, roping off large areas,
parking in a circle, taking extra space for a
campfire and blocking access roads is prohibited.
Directed or assigned parking by track owner, if
required must be complied with without exception.
Please be responsible and a good neighbor.
26.
MMS is always looking for sponsors or
advertisers to help with the cost of running such an
association as well as prizes for the riders. If
you or someone you know is interested in becoming a
sponsor please contact Serae Hemond at 207-346-6200

of the tracks.
27.
Minors are required to be
accompanied by one of their parents, legal guardian
or other authorized adult. A notarized permission
for racing slip and a minor release form signed by
his or her parent / legal guardian must accompany
each minor rider without a parent / legal guardian
each time they race. A new slip and release
is required for each track, each time
a rider races without a parent or legal guardian.
Please make copies of the ones provided in this
book, so you will have enough for the season.

28.
Minor Permission Policy:
Minors may participate in a race without their
parent or legal guardian if:
a.
They have a notarized permission slip and a
Release and Waiver of liability and indemnity
Agreement releasing The Maine Motocross Series,
Hemond’s Moto-X Park, L.L.C., Valley Motor Sports
Park, MX 207 and Spruce Mountain of liability.
b.
The permission slip is filled out legibly and
completely.
c.
The minor is accompanied by the adult who is
named as responsible on the permission slip.
d.
The minor is participating between the dates
written on the permission slip.
29.
All rules, policies/penalties, times and prices are
subject to change without notice. It is the
responsibility of the rider to keep up to date with
any changes by reading the newsletters given out at
the races and checking the website. |
