RULES - RIDER CLASSIFICATIONS |
|
| |
|
|
| |
-
A rider’s age on January 1 will
determine his or her age for the year. However,
a rider may move to the next higher age
class if he or she will be eligible to do so at
any time during the year, but once a rider
moves to the higher age class, he or she may not
move back to the lower age class. Riders are
encouraged to determine at the beginning of the
championship points season which age class they
will participate in for the championship point’s
season/year. Championship points earned in a
lower age class will not transfer to the higher
age class.
-
Moving up a class (for example;
riding a 50 in the 65 class or a 65 in an 85
class) will not be allowed for safety reasons.
-
MMS recognizes “A” as expert, “B”
as Amateur and “C” as novice. A novice “C” must
earn 25 promotional points to become an amateur
“B”. An amateur “B” must earn 100 points to
become an Expert “A”. Exception; 65cc B to A
and 125 Youth B to Youth A must earn 50 points
and Youth A must earn another 50 points to
become a full expert “A”. A youth rider does
not have to become full expert until he or she
turns 16 years old. To become full expert under
the age of 16 requires a notarized letter
requesting this signed by the rider and his or
her parent or legal guardian.
Vet experts will be considered
full experts.
-
The class that you ride in is
first determined by the size of the bike you
will be riding, your age and then by your rider
classification; A, B or C. X-Riders from other
associations or organizations must ride the same
classification with MMS as they do their own
organization. Exception: NEMA –
classifications are youth A, B or C.
-
The 50 cc Pee Wee class is for
the 1st year racer on the smallest
bike the manufacturer makes. This class is free
for the racer. If competeting in this class a
rider is not allowed to compete on any bike
larger than a 50cc. The rider is allowed to
compete in this class for 1 year. If the riders
year is up in the middle of a series, that rider
will be allowed to finish the series. The top 3
of the series must promote to their appropriate
50cc age class for the next series.
-
Rider classification changes made
within other organizations must be reported in
writing to the MMS within 10 days of the
change. Failure to notify MMS within 10 days
will result in disqualification.
-
You must ride in the highest
rider classification that you have held or hold
in any organization or events past or present.
This includes independent events as well. So,
if you are or were an expert or pro-expert in
AMA, NESC, District 34, etc. then you ride in
MMS as an expert.
-
Youth riders in other
organizations (NEMA, AMA) in the 250cc class
will be allowed to race as an Amateur to
maintain their amateur status. It is the
rider’s responsibility to show proof of his or
her “Youth” classification before entering an
event.
-
Vet riders must ride the same
skill level classes in non-Vet classes as they
do in the Vet Class.
